Attendance

Cringle Brook Primary School believes that regular school attendance is the key to enabling children to maximise the educational opportunities available to them.

90% attendance sounds good, but means that your child misses:

  • One half day each week

  • Nearly four weeks every school year

  • Over one school year in a school career

At Cringle Brook Primary school we reward good attendance!

In assembly on a Monday the percentage attendance for each class is read out and the winning class wins the attendance certificate.

100% attendance for a week - If a whole class gets 100% in a week then that class will win a prize.

At the end of each term there is a prize and a certificate for any child that has 100% for that term.

There is a big attendance assembly at the end of each term, where this is announced.

100% children get a badge (Bronze, silver or gold)

Holidays in Term Time

In 1st September 2013 the Government rules changed in relation to holidays or trips during term time. We are no longer allowed to authorise leave for holidays or trips during term time.

Parents need to be aware that if their child is out of school for holidays or trips, legal action for unauthorised absences is taken.

  • Each parent/carer will receive a Penalty Notice of £120.00 for each child. This will be reduced to £60.00 if paid within 21 days of the fine being issued.

  • Any such Penalty Notice or prosecution may relate to your child’s attendance record both prior to and subsequence to this letter.

  • Each parent/carer may receive a court summons, which may lead to a criminal record and a fine.

  • Your child is also at risk of losing their school place.

Previously, we have authorised occasional holidays, but we are NO LONGER allowed to do this.  The Government have made it very clear that children have 13 weeks holidays from school to use to go away.

We all want the best for every child in our school. We appreciate your support in this matter.

Illness

Sometimes children are too ill to come to school. Please contact school on the first morning of the absence to let us know the reason why your child is off school, otherwise it will be recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Medical Appointments

Where ever possible medical appointments should take place after school or in the school holidays. If you have to take your child for a medical appointment during school time, we will need to see proof of this appointment by an appointment card or letter.
