Retrak
Between September 2015 and July 2017 our chosen school charity was Retrak. Retrak reaches out to the children who have been forgotten by their communities, children who have no one else to turn to and their vision is a world where no child is forced to live on the street. Retrak now operates in Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, and Tanzania.
During this time, as a Trust we raised an incredible £7,053.98 thanks to the support of parents, staff and children.
Retrak thanked us with this presentation.

The Retrak mission is:-

12th April is the International Day of the Street Child.
As part of our work with Retrak, our trust charity for street children, we joined forces with them to help highlight the plight of street children through taking part in a social media campaign.
Children, in all our schools, lay down on the playground and thought about what if would feel like to live on the streets - with no shelter, no food, no education and no protection.
It didn't feel right eventhough we were only pretending. However, for lots of children, in some parts of the world, it's a tragic reality.
Each night, more than 10,000 children are forced to sleep rough on the streets of Uganda in Africa.
Retrak took photo's of the activity we did, which they will use to raise awareness in their social media campaign.
As well as the activity, some of our children wrote sentences (using various sentence types learnt in literacy) to convey how they felt about the issue.

We raise money for Retrak is lots of different ways.
In December 2016 we were involved in a card project - our children were twinned with children in the Retrak centres in Africa. They received a Christmas card template with a Christmas picture already done by a child from Africa, with their name on it. Our children, then drew or created a Christmas picture next to their 'partner's' picture and wrote their names as well.
The cards were boxed up and put up for sale at our Christmas Fairs in each of our Trust schools, to parents and carers and we raised an incredible £910 across our three schools!
