Assistant Headteacher - Mr Mackinnon

I graduated in 2009 from Birmingham City University with a degree in primary education, specialising in design and technology alongside early years.  I spent some time gaining experience working in different schools in order to understand what it was like for children in different areas, what it was like teaching children in different age groups and I have now taught in every year group from nursery up to year 8.  I taught in Birmingham for two years, Newcastle for a year, and Berwick-Upon-Tweed for four years before settling in Manchester where I have been teaching at Cringle Brook ever since.

Growing up, I was a keen dancer and competed for Scotland in the world and European championships, where at the time, I became the highest placed Scottish competitor ever.  I also have experience in teaching younger children how to ski and Kayak up in the highlands of Scotland.  Since moving to Manchester, my activities have become less active and I have found myself becoming a very keen home cook who thinks he has mastered many a good meal.

I always feel proud when I talk to my friends and family about where I work.  I pride myself on the trusts ethos and the lengths we will go to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.
